State of Lake Winnipeg Report
Environment Canada and Manitoba Water Stewardship released the "State of Lake Winnipeg" report on July 4, 2011. The report, a deliverable under EC's Lake Winnipeg Basin Initiative, is the first comprehensive assessment of the physical, chemical and biological characteristics of Lake Winnipeg since intensive lake monitoring began in the late 1990s. The report is a collaboration by researchers from government, universities and non-governmental organizations, and documents research on Lake Winnipeg including water quality, water levels, algae growth, climate conditions and emerging issues. The report is expected to serve as an important reference to measure future progress to restore the health of Lake Winnipeg.
