The LWBIN is pleased to announce we have partnered with MSpace at the University of Manitoba. MSpace is the open access component of the University of Manitoba's institutional repository. By partnering with MSpace, the LWBIN is able to provide a central searchable repository for documents about the Lake Winnipeg Basin.

Within the MSpace repository is a collection named Lake Winnipeg Basin Information Network (CEOS). Items stored within this collection can include: faculty publications, conference and working papers, technical reports, government documents and reports, research documents and research citations only (where subscription to a journal is required). Users can search by title, author, subject or keyword.

Items can be submitted to both a publisher and to the LWBIN collection in MSpace, depending on the publisher’s copyright agreement and electronic publishing policies. When negotiating agreements with publishers, it is in the author's best interest to retain self-archiving privileges and copyright.

The benefits of posting to MSpace and the LWBIN collection

  • increased visibility and wider access to your research;
  • higher rate of citations and greater impact;
  • ease of sharing your research through unbreakable links;
  • long-term and safe preservation;
  • showcase UM and Lake Winnipeg Basin research in a central archive; and
  • items can be discovered via Google and other search engines
